This note is tested with Tibco EMS 4.4.1.

Before I got this error I had done some experiments with a fault tolerant setup using the same server name in configuration option server as my stand alone daemon. So my first gues was to rename the EMS server, which did not help. My standalone EMS server was also using the same datastore as my previously running fault tolerant pair of EMS servers. Unfortunately renaming the EMS datastore did not solve the problem either.
What might have caused it was that some EMS clients of the standalone server had crashed before I got the error. These clients were Tibco Designer 5.5 instances running BusinessWorks 5.4. Only when shutting down my machine I saw that these clients were correctly terminated and at restart of the my machine and the EMS server the problem was solved.
